What we collect
Account: name, email, phone number, sign-in provider identifiers, and a profile photo or agency logo if you add one. Guest sessions get an anonymous identifier. Listings: everything you enter, including photos and the building you choose on the map. Messages: their text and timestamps. Device: a push notification token if you allow notifications, and your approximate location while the app is open if you allow it, used only to centre the map.
Why
To show listings on the map, let owners and enquirers message each other, verify that a poster is a real person, send notifications you asked for, and keep the service safe. We do not sell personal data and do not show advertising.
Where it lives
Listings, messages and account data are stored with Google Firebase in the European Union (Frankfurt). Listing photos are converted and served from Cloudflare R2, which distributes them from servers around the world so they load quickly wherever you are. Sign-in is handled by Apple, Google or Firebase Authentication depending on the method you choose. Map tiles are fetched from OpenFreeMap; address search from OpenStreetMap's Nominatim; cadastral data from the state geoportal of the country shown. Each receives the request needed to answer it and nothing else.
Who sees what
Your public name, role, logo and listings are visible to everyone using the app. A phone number you put on a listing is published with that listing — that is what it is for — along with any messenger you tick as a way to be reached. Your email address is never shown to anyone. Messages are visible to the two participants and, where the listing belongs to an agency, developer or bank, to that organisation: an employer can read the conversations its own staff are having about its own listings, though it cannot write in them. You are told so at the top of any conversation where this applies, before you write anything.
Your rights
You can see and edit your profile in the app and delete your account, which removes your profile, listings and sign-in. You can ask for a copy or correction of your data at [email protected]. Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD or similar laws apply, you have the rights they give you, including to complain to your supervisory authority.
Retention
Account data is kept while the account exists. Deleting your account deletes your conversations outright, for both sides — so a thread you were part of disappears from the other person's app too, and anything agreed in it goes with it. Push tokens are removed when they stop working. Server logs are kept for at most 30 days.
Children
Gaus is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above says when. Material changes are announced in the app. Contact: [email protected].
Terms of Use
Who we are
Gaus is a property map and listing service operated by Gaus ("we"). These terms govern your use of the Gaus app and any listing, message or account you create in it.
Using Gaus
You may browse, search and message without an account. Posting a listing requires an account with a verified email address and a verified phone number. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or post a listing.
Your listings
You are responsible for what you post. A listing must describe a real property you are entitled to offer, with a truthful price, location and condition. We may remove listings that are misleading, unlawful, duplicated, or reported by other users, and may suspend accounts that post them.
Agencies
Selecting the agency role is a declaration that you act on behalf of a real estate business. The name and logo you provide are shown on your listings as given. We do not verify licences and make no representation about any agency.
Property data
Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors, OpenFreeMap and OpenMapTiles under their licences. Cadastral information is shown as published by the relevant state register and may be out of date. Estimates such as yields are arithmetic on figures supplied by listing owners and are not advice. Verify everything before you pay anyone.
Messages
Conversations between users are stored so both sides can read them. Do not send content that is unlawful, abusive, or unrelated to the listing. We may review messages that are reported.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen; this removes your profile, your listings and your sign-in. We may terminate accounts that breach these terms.
Liability
Gaus is provided as is. We are not a party to any transaction between users and are not liable for losses arising from a listing, a message, or reliance on data shown in the app, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing here limits rights that consumer law gives you where you live.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date above says when. Continued use after a change is acceptance of it. If you use Gaus as a consumer, you keep every protection the law of the country you live in gives you, and you may bring a claim in the courts there — nothing in these terms takes that away or asks you to travel to sue us. Questions: [email protected].
